Invergordon Rigs re-activated
Those who measure offshore activity in terms of
the number of rigs laid up in the Scottish Cromarty Firth must now be thinking that things
are getting pretty busy.
Although there are still several rigs decorating
the scenery - NOT - most of them are now under repair or refurbishment. Even some of the
long standing residents have got charters, and will shortly be going back to work, and
even longest standing residents may shortly be on the move. The Sedco Explorer which used
to be the Dundee Explorer and before that the Dundee Kingsnorth, has become the Pride
North Sea and is apparently to be dispatched to Africa and Transocean Sedco Forex are even
threatening to refurbish sister rig the Transocean Explorer (formerly the Kingsnorth UK).
Its an ill wind that blows no-body any good. The
departure of all these floating objects will probably result in a reduction of business for
the Invergordon service companies, but on the plus side their TV pictures will be better.
