According to this week's Towingline on line tug
magazine this is the last of the original Sullom
Voe tugs the "Stanechakker" cheaply renamed as
Stane. Its work area explains the extreme height
if the fire monitor. It is on its way to
Nigeria, and was photographed arriving at
Ijmuiden by the ever vigilant Jan Plug, who, not
content with sending photos from his work place,
also gets down to the riverside during his time
off.
I should mention that in the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon disaster there is a lot of interest in Safety Cases - my particular specialisation for fifteen years - so I am being dragged out of retirement. Hence I have to take a trip to Egypt for a couple f weeks, during which there will be no changes to picture of the day. But once more I can recommend a thumb through the website. There is a load of interesting stuff. Posted here on 1st October 2010 I have started a community page, I have no idea how this will go but it seems that by enrolling people with common interests can email each other - without the public exposure of Facebook.
