ACTIVE

We remember Active Offshore as being quite a big player in the business in years gone by, but they have become an investment company dealing in speculative ship-building operations. I am grateful to Terje Nerås who was good enough to update me about this organisation.

Apparently the Hagenaes family of Aalesund have over time initiated the following companies:

Active Venture 1 (KS) which owned a UT 755L delivered by Brevik in 2002 as Rigdon Tide, obviously purchased by Tidewater, and subsequent to the departure of Larry Rigdon from that organisation renamed Lui Tide.

Active Venture 11 (KS) owned the Active Princess which was delivered by Brattvaag in 2003, which was sold immediately to Seabulk and became the Seabulk Asia. This company apparently still exists.

Active Venture 111 (KS) ordered a single ship in 2004, Active Prince, and sold it virtually off the stocks to Bourbon when it became the Bourbon Atlantide.

Active Venture IV (KS) bought the Active King from Jaya. This ship became GSP King in 2006. GSP is a Romanian company providing a variety of offshore services to the oil industry.

Active Venture V (KS) bough another Jaya constructed vessel from Seacor which briefly became Active Queen, before joining GSP as GSP Queen.

Neither Active Venture IV or Active Venture V now exist on the Norwegian Stock exchange.

I don't think that any useful purpose will be achieved by including details of these ships here.

An internet search in 2012 has not revealed any new ships, and if "Ships and Oil" appears as a source on page 1 of the google search pages you know that the company concerned does not have much to say. So, nothing new then.
