Time passes. To keep up
with everything that is happening in the offshore world we would have to
employ full time journalists, and then I suppose we would have to charge
for the service. We do our best and we are still free (although some would
say - just cheap). This is an excuse for not remembering when Seacor
disposed of the Stirling Islay and the Stirling Jura to BUE, but we think
it was in 2003. The ships had their upperworks removed and they were towed
through the Russian canal system from the Black Sea to the Caspian, where
they are now employed at what they do best.
On having a look at this
company in 2009 I found that it had at some time been
purchased by a company called Renaissance Services who
operate the Islay and Jura and a number of other vessels in
the Caspian out of Azerbaijan and Kazakstan. Developments
are still taking place in this organisation now called
"Topaz Marine".
I have decided for the
moment not to update this file due mainly to lack of
information, that is unless some-one in Topaz Marine would
like to contact me and tell me what they are now doing. |

These two vessels were built
by Stirling by BAE Marine in 2002, broadly following the previous vessel,
Stirling Iona. They were sold by Seacor to BUE and are now in the Caspian
Sea. (2004) |
