DEEP SEA SUPPLY
Deep Sea Supply is a Norwegina company set up in 2004 by some shipping executives with their origins in Viking Supply Ships during one of its periods of intensive activity. When-ever their intentions, they had the opportunity of purchasing six KMAR404s from Tidewater in 2005 which they did with finance raised from Norwegian financial institutions. Later they were able to purchase a further KMAR404 from Groupe Bourbon. These seven vessels constitute almost the whole production of the vessel type, possibly because they are a little limited in both horse-power and winch capacity and capability. However, as this is being written in January 2007, it can be seen that these purchases were particularly well timed and that this group of slightly limited vessels are making good money for the new owners.

Deep Sea Supply has also announced a vast building programme consisting of one 16,000 bhp anchor handler being built in Norway and to be delivered in September 2008, two 15,000 bhp anchor handlers being built in China and apparently to be delivered in early 2007, 9 small anchor-handlers to be built in China and to be delivered over three years from 2007, and amazingly eight UT755s to be delivered by the end of 2008.

As of February 2011 it is evident that some rationalisation is taking place. Two of the KMAR 404s have gone and although the newbuilding programme remains in place the company may be pleased that deliveries are not to take place as required by the original timescale.
