NORTH STAR

The Craig Group used to be a traditional deep sea fishing company based in Aberdeen, but famously in 1970 the then managing director Pat Lynch was asked by an oil company to provide a ship to act as a standby vessel. He was not a man to let an opportunity slip through his fingers, and so North Star entered the standby vessel business, using a variety of trawlers.

Over the years the fleet has been modernised, and in recent times the company has had many purpose designed ships built, as can be seen from the details here. In the 21st century they have begun to operate other vessels in the oil industry, including a survey vessel and a number of platform ships.

The page undated with a number of C class ships and a couple of sales at 12/1/12. At the time of writing the company is due to bring into service four D Class vessels of IMT 950 design..
