SHIPS AND OIL.COM
THIS IS POSSIBLY THE OLDEST SITE ON THE INTERNET DEVOTED TO OFFSHORE VESSELS. THE FIRST PICTURE WAS POSTED IN 1998 AND THERE HAVE BEEN OVER 1200 IMAGES AVAILABLE AT TIMES.

IF YOU WISH TO START AT THE BEGINNING ENTER HERE IF NOT MAKE A SELECTION FROM THE LINKS BELOW.

PICTURE OF THE DAY

Picture of the Day started as a picture posted on the internet every day taken from our office in Aberdeen. Today it is a picture of offshore activities taken some-where in the world and sent to us by one of our visitors. As well as looking at the picture it is well worth browsing through the archive.

THE ABERDEEN HARBOUR WEBCAM

If you would like to see offshore vessels on the move, alas not at oil rigs, but at least entering and leaving one of the busiest supply ship harbours in the world this is the place. The camera can be panned and tilted by the viewer. But be nice to it. When you change the view its little motors spin alarmingly to turn and tilt it .

SHIP INFORMATION

It is impossible to keep up with everything that is happening to the supply ship business but in this section we make a valiant attempt. There is much information and photographs about supply ships worldwide here. There are details of over 100 companies and over 1000 ships here. We keep at it!

FEATURES

Over the last 20 years your editor has written many articles for nautical and offshore publications, and latterly has written some stuff just for this site. This includes reports on both the loss of the Stevns Power and the investigation into the Bourbon Dolphin Accident. There are also some contributions from others.

NEWS AND VIEWS

This is a sometimes intermittent monthly comment on things that are happening in the marine world. Hopefully it is informative and sometimes amusing, and at the very least provides an alterative view to what one might call the "official" one. We hope that there are a few sensible words here in a mad world.

PUBLICATIONS

Well, today there is only one publication "The History of the Supply Ship" which is something of a labour of love. A further edition of "Supply Ship Operations" is currently under development and when published will bring up to date an iconic work for those working in the business.

As well as the photographs in the "picture of the day" archive there are many photos in the ship information section of anchor-handlers (AHTS) platform ships (PSVs) Construction and ROV vessels, FPSOs, platforms and oil rigs (Mobile units). Some, but not all, are thumbnails. And if you would like to know something about supply vessels or the offshore industry email us - we'll try to help.
