Kenny Polson, who is a marine manager out in Australia, but who hails from the Shetland Islands has sent me a few photos from his past, and here is the Nordica passing Wick some years ago. This ship and the Botnica and the Fennica were built to operate as ice-breakers in the winter in Finnish waters, and as construction ships in the summer. We have not seen them for years, and think they are some-where in the Gulf of Mexico. Since posting this photo I have received a number of updates as to the location of the three ships. the Fennica is off south eastern Australia, the Botnica is in the Adriatic and the Nordica is in Den Helder having recently had a "walk to work" gangway fitted. |
