PICTURE OF THE DAY 2012

Photographs of offshore support vessels in action in many parts of the world. 

When I received this photo of the Punto 1 from Derek Latter in Nigeria it looked familiar, and on investigation found that it was a BOL 75, a Norwegian design adopted by a number of companies in the 1970s. Hard to believe I know but they were the bees knees at the time. This one was the Edda Grip. Star Offshore also had two, the Star Taurus and the Star Aquarius. When I was master of the Star Aquarius we once laid 27 piggy back anchors over a particularly soft seabed, to try to hold the Pentagone 84 in place.
