PICTURE OF THE DAY 2012

Photographs of offshore support vessels in action in many parts of the world. 

This is the Wellservicer, now a veteran of the North Sea offshore maintenance operations. It was built as long ago as 1989 in Sunderland. It is now operated by Technip, but was previously the CSO Wellservicer, and before that the Stena Wellservicer. It is alongside in Invergordon, one of the Northernmost ports on the UK mainland. The tanks in the background used to hold fuel for the grand fleet. In 1962 I was an apprentice on a ship that took it all away to Rotterdam.
