Bisso Marine are a
very well known salvage company operating in
the Gulf of Mexico in the main. They have a
fleet of barges of various sizes, mostly fitted
with big cranes and sheerlegs which can lift
smaller vessels off the seabed. However They
have not up to now owned any ships which would
fit into the Ships and Oil random
classifications. Well, actually it was in 2008
that they acquired the ship but we have ignored
it up to now.
Bisso have been in
the salvage business since the mid 19th century
and in the offshore business since the 1940s,
but their interest has been in cranes and barges
more than ships, hence their limited entry on
this site.
The company has
owned at least one US type anchor handler which
now seems to have gone on to other owners.
Reviewed again as part of the revised website
Bisso appear to have added to their offshore
fleet. Unfortunately the added vessels are no
more than a name because there is not much more
available.
