SECUNDA CANADA

Secunda are a Canadian company who commenced operations in 1983 trading in and operating second hand vessels of considerable age. As offshore oil activities intensified off the Canadian east coast they built a new anchor handler and began to dispose of their older tonnage which included two very old UT 704s. They also purchased the Boa Carrier, one of the venerable but groundbreaking OSA platform ships. In July 2007 they were taken over by J.Ray McDermott, but looked the same as they used to from the outside.

Their current diverse fleet indicates a degree of ingenuity and bravery, particularly considering the number of Russian ships they have purchased.

In early 2012 Secunda was purchased from McDermott by Birch Hill Equity Partners of Toronto four of the ships were retained by the former company, which results in McDermott being featured separately on this site.

In February 2015 there have been no changes to the fleet or ownership.
