There seems to be
little information about Marpetrol on the
internet, other than the fact that it has been
purchased recently by a Russian Company. The DNV
data still shows the one ship we have knowledge
of as being owned by Ultratug and managed by
this company. The general lack of information is
perhaps why I have not bothered with this outfit
in the past.
At the 2013 review
an internet search put shipsandoil at the top of
Google page 1. Always a bad sign. Marpetrol
appears to continue to exist as a Spanish
company with a Russian managing director, but it
no longer seems to own the Lilen. There is a
general view that the Lilen is now operated by
South Patagonia Services a Uruguayan company,
although the DNV page shows it to be owned by
Esco Vina LLC. Esco Vina has recently been
subject to bankruptcy proceedings. For one old
704 this research hardly seems worth the effort,
but I continue to include it maybe to show what
can be done with the internet.
