ARCTIA SHIPPING OY
Arctia Shipping Oy was constituted on 1st January 2010 and seems to have taken on board the icebreakers which made up the Finnish ice-breaking service, a number of ferries and more importantly for us, the icebreaking ships operated by Fintaship. Fintaship itself was set up in 2004 as an offshoot of the Finnish Marine Administration.

The ships which interest us are the three ice-breaking vessels which have consistently taken up roles as construction vessels on non ice-prone areas of the world. Because of their basic purpose they are large powerful ships and have a large deck area available. They are the Nordica, Botnica and the Fennica.

At the time of the 2014 review it was seen that the Botnica had been sold to the Port of Tallin on behalf of who it will be dedicated to icebreaking in the Baltic.

At the time of the 2015 review there have been no changes to the company, although one of the ships, the Fennica,  has joined the Shell drilling campaign in Alaska.
