MARINE
CARRIER AB
|
Marine Carrier is a
tug and barge company based in the port of Pitea
in Sweden. They only came to our attention when
our eagle eyed contributors in the Kiel Canal photographed one of their vessels. They
claim to have the ability to support
anchor-handling operations, hence their
inclusion here.
At the 2014 update
they are down to one vessel worthy of inclusion
on this site.
Updated 3rd October
2014.

| Comments |
This vessel
may be the only remaining example of the original Maersk B class. It
has had a chequered career since being purchased by Marine Carrier,
including being captured by pirates in Nigeria. It was claimed by
one of our contributors to have been purchased off the scrap heap.
This ship no longer exists on the
company website, but on the other hand one of the many ship tracking
sites indicates that it is in Nigeria. We could therefore surmise
that it has been sold to a Nigerian company but that they have not
changed the name. |
