According to their
website this towing company started business
more than 130 years ago. In the 1960s the
company briefly entered the bulk shipping market
but retained its focus on tug operations, and in
the 1970s abandoned its deep sea operations. If
one looks on the internet it is possible to see
a dispute between URAG and Zapata. While the tug
Bremen was towing a Zapata jack-up in the Gulf
of Mexico the rig's legs broke off in rough
weather. Zapata blamed Unterweser for the damage
and a court case resulted. It appears that the
action took place in the English court, though
it is difficult to see what actually happened if
you are not a legal eagle.
But back to today,
amongst the fleet of tugs are two
anchor-handlers, and they are featured here. And
at the 2014 review there had been no changes to
the fleet as far as offshore vessels are
concerned.
