DEEPOCEAN

Trico used to be Norwegian and now are American. They were the subject of an ongoing controversy some time into the new millenium, being accused by the International Labour Organisation of being anti-union. This has caused some strikes in various places including Norway. Well, the Americans do not really seem to have got the hang of unions except, if the 1950s gangster films are anything to go by, as a means of lining dishonest people's pockets with money.

Whether the ILO's case is right or wrong, in Europe Trico have large numbers of well found ships having purchased the Viking fleet, probably in about 1998.

In 2008 Trico purchased Active Subsea/Haganaes Shipping's eight vessels under construction in India. They are VS 470 MkII designs described as multi purpose light construction vessels.

The vessels detailed in this section are those designated by the Trico Group as "Trico Supply". There is an American Company, which on this site is designated as Trico Marine Assets and which has its own page. Separate pages are also included for the Trico subsidiaries Deepocan and CTC Marine.

In September 2010 Trico in America filed for bankruptcy protection. But this excluded the European business. Also a few ships appear to have been sold to a company called Eastern Marine Services in Singapore. Is this actually a subsidiary.

It appears now, in 2012, that Trico Supply, the UK part of the now defunct Trico Marine, has become part of the Deepocean Group, and has been renamed Trico Offshore. It has been a bumpy ride, but maybe the remaining part of the business is now stable. Updated 26/4/12

At the time of the 2013 review Trico Offshore is billed as being part of the DeepOcean Group, but for convenience the fleet remains on its own page. The Northern Canyon appears on the Trico Offshore page, although we have it as being transferred to DeepOcean.

Finding DeepOcean on the internet has been a bit difficult which does not really auger well, but anyway according to their page this is what they own, the rest of those shown on their pages are chartered.

At the 2015 review DeepOcean seem to have taken a firmer grip on the ships they own, and all are presented here. In addition the have, according to their website, large numbers of ships on charter.
