ØSTENSJØ REDERI AS |
Edda are well known for
developing and operating advanced platform ships, and have had two ships on
charter to Shell out of Aberdeen for as long as anyone can remember, by
2009 Shell had chartered the new Edda Fram, which has a
revolutionary bulk handling system, and is powered by a
Voith Schneider system.
They operate escort tugs
in Southampton and in Norway.
During the latter part of
the first decade of the 21st century they provided a ship on
which was installed a set of portacabins, and this
"passenger ship" operated in support of the Bonga project in
West Africa. This has caused the company to take steps in
the direction of accommodation vessels, and now have an
accommodation vessel about to enter service (April 2010).
Edda have continued to improve
their fleet, and have two vessel with Voith Schneider
propulsion, and the propulsion system seems accidentally to
have improved the seakeeping qualities of the vessels. The
Edda Fides is also in service, and has a safety case
compiled by Marex Marine Services of Aberdeen.
At the 2014 review there appear
to have been no increases to the fleet, however the now
venerable Edda Sprint has departed. Another accommodation
has been ordered and is being built in Hayundai.

I'm not quite sure how things stand
with Edda tugs. Thorax if it is still owned may be the largest
of their fleet. 2014 this tug still appears to be part of the
fleet. |
